Novel Ideas

I might’ve stumbled across an old formula to write a story. I wrote down a bunch of ideas and figured out how they all came together, and then I put together music playlists for theses dumb little mystery novels I’m writing. Most of the stuff I’m doing isn’t that great, but they’re all I’ve got so I’m doing what I can with them. I’ve been trying for years to write about things I love, but it gets tough. You doubt, you struggle, you change words, and phrases, to try and convey something particular, something good.

I’m doing a lot more than I used to, it took me two years to write a novella. I’ve got more projects than ever, but I’m you can’t exist in limbo forever. At some point you want to finish. Locking yourself up in a room, is great if you’re actually working. Otherwise, you’re just sitting in the dark taking naps in between half finished ideas. You don’t always have a lot of time to do things when you’re working all day anyway, so you sort of hit this spiral where you just sink.

I suppose you can just keep sinking, or if you’ve got something to prove, or people to prove wrong, you take that first step. Just try it. It’s one step. Then you look back and see a little progress and you try for a little more. I guess most of life is like that really. New things, new challenges, new problems,  happen all the time. Just make a step. Even if you’re shuffling your feet.

Politics

I’m finding that people are finding things controversial that didn’t used to be considered that way. In either conducting my own research into politics, or just the daily nightmare of the national media, people try to make things controversial to get people to come over to their side. People themselves either don’t want to do any research into the simplest of topics, or are quick to label everything as “hate speech” so their opponents will have to be shut up. Frankly, we’re supposed to be the freest country in the world, and we can’t even come to terms to calmly and simply have open debate. I’ve never attended rallies, or anything like that, other than the arguments you might get in with family, or people online, I’m not in the political process that much but I’m working on something that should be fairly accepted by both sides of the aisle. Planning Out Another Novel

There’s nothing worse than planning a book. Once you get most of the particulars out of the way, but that planning... It’s worse than writing, because at least you can edit or rewrite the actual writing.  The details have to matter before the writing matters. That’s it, that’s all I got.  I got a vague notion that I want to write something, but no idea if it’ll go anywhere. But that’s exactly I how I started my first book.

It’s Been Awhile

 I haven’t been blogging so much because I’ve been writing books instead! I finished a World War 2 book, and started on a western, which I think I’m about halfway through.  Once that’s done I plan on starting work on a spy novel. I’m trying to do some real research on it, so it’s going to take a little while, but I’m really excited about it.  I’m trying my best to do one book in a different genre, I think it keeps things interesting and you’re less likely to be bored if you’re trying something new all the time.
