Progress

I managed to get all the research done for this one book.  It’s actually kinda fun.  I started writing it this week, and I’m a couple of pages into it already.  I’ve been able writing a lot more this year, I think partially to fulfill a lifelong dream, and partly to ignore all the nonsense of 2020.  Its fun that’s for sure. I’m really hoping to publish some things very soon. It’s sort of a continual fight, but it really seems like some things are finally happening.

Story Idea

I’ve been working on some things for a long while now.  Some were ideas I’ve had since I was a younger man, and some more recent.  I wanted to do a little book of short stories, nothing too ambitious, maybe two or three.  I think I’ve got some early foundations for a great story that should round out that book nicely.  I’ve been interested in the idea of “what if?”  In science fiction its a sub genre called alternate history.  I think I’ve got a great idea for one.  Parts of it were lost in a notebook I just looked at today, other parts were in things I’ve been thinking about for a year or so, and I think I managed to come with something really good.  I’m going to iron out some details, but I’m going to try and publish this next year I hope.  It actually seems like an easy project, or at least easy in the sense that it’s coming together without too much trouble.

A guy writes a series about a World War 2 ship that practically has the same thing happen to it. Another writer wrote a book about a guy who travels back in time to give the South blueprints to an automatic weapon to win the war. However another time traveller stops him. Years later another writer about a racist group who gives the South AK-47s to win the war, and they do, but the South frees the slaves anyway. Yet another was a series of novels that had America fighting not just the South, but England during the Civil War, and of course that idea was expanded by another author who had America fighting England and France as well as the South during the Civil War. The what if/alternate history genre is likely the one genre of writing that people copy or the ideas are so few that nobody really notices. Some of it also has to be because pe...
